Counseling Department/Student Services

Our Napa High counselors are located in the Student Services Department.  We encourage students to come in to our office to ask questions, look for information, and/or make appointments with their counselor.

All students begin with a counselor their freshman year and remain with the same counselor throughout their high school years at Napa High.  Since each counselor is assigned a "class", they will help all students within that class each year of high school supporting them through each transition.

The counseling department hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 3:00 pm.  Students can stop by the office before/after school and during breaks to set appointments with their counselor.  See Mrs. Howden or Mrs. de Lorimier in Student Services for assistance in making appointments.

Hometown: Napa

Alma Mater: Sonoma State University

Best part of your job: Getting to help students reach their personal, educational, and career goals.

Tips for success at Napa High:  Attend school regularly and ask for make up work when you are absent, complete every assignment to the best of your ability (and turn it in!), and ask for help if you need it.

Tell us something about yourself:  I was born and raised in Napa and attended local public schools (Northwood, Redwood, and Vintage).  I earned my Bachelor's degree in History from UC Berkeley and a teaching credential from San Francisco State University.  I taught History at Vintage High School for nine years. After earning my Master's degree in Counseling from Sonoma State University, I was the counselor at American Canyon Middle School for nine years and at Valley Oak High School for six years.  I am really excited to join the counseling team at Napa High School!

Class of 2022

aandrilla@nvusd.org

Hometown: Los Angeles

Alma Mater: SDSU for undergraduate and SSU for graduate work

Best part of job: The best part of my job is helping students and parents navigate what options exist beyond high school and how to make that a reality.

Tips for success at Napa High: High school can be a great time for learning about yourself and various subjects. I encourage students to take a chance and join clubs or participate in activities that peek your interest. Engaging with your teachers and counselor regularly can help you feel connected to school and life around you. Make sure you are coming to school regularly, and on time so you can access what's happening in all your classes. Taking time each night to do your school work is critical. And most importantly, eating well, getting a good night's sleep, and limiting your screen time will keep you balanced and keep you going strong mentally.

Tell us something about yourself: I'm a big fan of art and love to experiment with various mediums (painting, digital, metalwork). I also love visiting gardens and am drawn to drought tolerant plants like those featured at Sunnylands in Rancho Mirage, California. I am married and have two children. I feel fortunate to live in the Napa Valley and am thankful for working at a school with people who want to be here and are committed to helping young adults.
